Pompeo urged the prime minister to "preserve Iraqi sovereignty, reaffirming the United States' enduring commitment to the Iraqi people, our willingness to discuss the scope of our forces in Iraq over time, and our desire for a strong and prosperous Iraq, as outlined in our strategic agreement, bilateral framework."

Baghdad:  The head of badr's parliamentary bloc, Hassan Shaker, on Tuesday revealed the bloc's status as a condition in exchange for the approval of the candidate for the post of head of the next transitional government.

chattels   Transparency International released its annual “Corruption Perceptions Index” and Iraq continued to be towards the bottom of the countries ranked. Iraq had a score of 20 out of 100 with 0 being the worst and 100 being the best.

 That put it tied for 17th most corrupt country out of 180 that were ranked. In the Middle East only Libya with a score of 18, Yemen with 15 and Syria with 13 did worse. That was little better than the previous year when Iraq ranked 18th.

Baghdad:  Sadr's supporters refused to take part in a demonstration against the attack by protesters over its decision to stop supporting demonstrations in Iraq, a close associate of Sadr's leader Moqtada Sadr said Sunday.

"I understand your strong emotions about the US attack against Sadr, but it is not demonstrating for this so that we do not be dragged into internal strife," Saleh Mohammed al-Iraqi said in a Facebook post.

Earlier in the day, the Sadrist movement called on its supporters to hold a vigil to denounce the anti-Sadr attacks on their leader Moqtada Sadr in protest sit-ins in central and southern Iraq.

"If I stopped the positive and negative support, so to speak, I wanted to put the revolution back on track and its first elegance, not to its enemies, and if they do not return, we will have another position to support the security forces, which must establish security, not to defend the corrupt, but to the interests of the people," al-Iraqi said.
