CandyKisses:  KRG delegation to visit Baghdad in next two days: Iraqi Foreign Minister

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraqi Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Fuad Hussein on Saturday told Kurdistan 24 correspondent Nawras Abdulla that a top KRG delegation is scheduled to visit Baghdad in the next two days to meet with Iraqi officials on the implementation of the budget law.

Hussein also revealed that the two delegations will discuss the issue of non-oil revenues to complete the technical work and send the Kurdistan Region its share soon.

"There is no threat to the salaries of the Kurdistan Region employees. This issue is regulated by law, which is the budget law," the foreign minister added.

On July 27, Baghdad agreed to release the Kurdistan Region’s public salaries following days of intensive discussions between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi federal authorities.

Hailed as one of the country’s biggest budgets, the state expenditures were set at 198.91 trillion Iraqi dinars ($153 billion) with a deficit of more than 64 trillion dinars (over $48 billion).

The management of oil and gas has been among the contentious issues between Erbil and Baghdad for over a decade, leading to the suspension of the Region’s share in previous federal budgets.

CandyKisses:  Unbearable heat in Iraq. Oil companies warn of deadly danger

Baghdad - NAS

While Iraq recorded unprecedented temperatures in its history that exceeded fifty degrees in some areas, oil companies prepared to thesouth.

Oil companies in Basra province have raised the purple flag after temperatures exceeded 52 degrees Celsius, Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent reported on Sunday.

The most dangerous

This flag refers to short ultraviolet rays, which are the most dangerous to humans, as they lead to heat stroke, and kill living cells in the body.

Many companies raise the warning signal to alert their employees to take the highest precautions.

The Meteorological Authority had previously reported that 13 governorates recorded temperatures exceeding a maximum of 50 degrees Celsius.

It also explained that the highest temperature recorded last Saturday at the Khanaqin station is 52.5 degrees.

"Warning" to the whole world

It is noteworthy that the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the United Nations, Volker Türk, warned on Wednesday that the high temperatures and drought facing Iraq is a "warning" to the whole world, at the end of his visit to this country, which is one of the most vulnerable to some of the effects of climate change.

During his tour of Iraq, where temperatures exceeded fifty degrees, and amid severe drought, Türk visited the south of the country, where "the fields are barren and drought," he said.

At the end of a four-day visit, he stressed that "rising temperatures, drought and loss of biodiversity have become a reality, considering it a warning to Iraq and the whole world."

For the fourth consecutive year, Iraq, the fifth country most affected by climate change in the world according to the United Nations, is facing a severe drought.

This is due to the decline in rainfall and high temperatures.

The authorities also hold part of the responsibility for dams built by Turkey and Iran on the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphrates, causing a drop in the level of rivers that cross Iraq.

In July, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) warned that the historic marshes region in the south of the country was experiencing "the most severe heat wave in 40 years", as well as a sharp drop in water levels.
