Samson:  Al-Hadithi: The government has moved corruption cases against senior officials

2019/11/8 20:10

Government spokesman Saad al-Hadithi said on Friday that the government has "moved several cases of corruption against a number of senior officials."

Al-Hadithi said in a press statement that "the government is working to enact many reform laws in the country."

He said the government was "working on a new election law and a fair distribution of wealth."  LINK

MilitiaMan:  Lets hope that they get this sorted and quickly... A fair distribution of the wealth should include the 6 billion the corrupt have been siphoning off at the borders..

Still have Tammimi calling out that amount that Mahdi and others used when suggesting the demonstrations were the problem for shutting down the ports..

The corrupt taking graft at the borders was exposed.. imo ~ MM

Samson:  Successful IBBC Trade Visit to KRI

9th November, 2019

The Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) took a significant group of members on a trade mission to KRI this week. Paramount was the need to review business opportunities and investment in the region and to learn directly from the Prime Minister Barzani his plans for business and industry.

The group, led by Baroness Nicholson, UK Trade Envoy to Iraq, Christophe Michels MD of IBBC and Eng Rasmi Al Jabri, Deputy Chairman of IBBC included representatives from Jaguar LandRoverCrescent PetroleumEYSiemensSardar Trading AgencyGarda WorldStirling EducationKPMG, G4S, OilServ Kuwait, and from the DIT Mr Rawand Askary, and James Thornton of UK FCO.

The Prime Minister introduced a number of Ministers for discussion with the group, including KRI Minister of Electricity Mr Kamal Mohammad Saleh discussing project finance and other related matters. The DG of the KRIs MoI joint crisis coordination centre Mr Hoshang Mohamed discussed the clearance of IEDs & mines and the handling of the overall IDP and refugee crisis (that G4S have been heavily engaged with).

In conversation, Mr Barzani stated that ‘the KRI government will bring in reforms to cut down on red tape for the private sector to develop. It will pursue a policy of registering companies through a ‘one window’ online portal which should allow company registrations to be done in the same time it takes in western countries to do so. He also said that the new administration is streamlining overall bureaucracy for private businesses to limit unnecessary Government interference.

The Government is also planning to draft a new bribery law to fight corruption and is looking at reviewing its financial framework to encourage PPPs throughout the economy including education and health. Diversification of the economy is big on the agenda with agriculture, tourism and the manufacturing of goods being a priority. KRI should import less and produce more and eventually find markets outside its borders for its products. Foreign partners for all of this are sought after.’

A permanent revenue sharing agreement with Baghdad is top of the agenda among other things to allow credit export agencies to work directly in the KRIG.’

On Sunday the Planning Minister and Mr Amanj Raheem, Cabinet Secretary, Kurdistan Regional Government spoke, and the Ministers for Construction and Electricity attended the British Consulate Reception taking place at the JLR show room kindly sponsored by Sadar Trading Agencies – thanks to Mr Sardar Al-Bebany Chairman and CEO. Dr Dara Al Khayat, Chairman of KRI federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Erbil, hosted a Monday evening event and on Tuesday the mission visited Crescent Petroleum offices.

The trip continued to Baghdad   LINK

MilitiaMan:  I am not sure there is the Baghdad Fair starting on Monday or not. They had it scheduled for the first and the put the 11th on the time line.

Well there are some heavy hitters that were in the KRI (Kurdistan Region) talking business and what stands out are a few things. 1) Security, 2) Electricity, 3) Accounting and auditing, 4) PERMANENT REVENUE SHARING and they are to continue onto Baghdad.

All of this during the demonstrations having been on going. Investors of the caliber they mention are GLOBAL..

Reforms are slated to be addressed as early as tomorrow.. I'll be oh so very watchful over the next couple of days. I have not seen any postponement yet on the Fair.

If you recall there is an annual conference in Great Britain on 12/08/2019 with many and more of the names above. If the Fair on the 11th is to be successful ahead of that one in GB, they'll need reforms in the bag by then for those attending on the 11th...We shall see.  imo ~ MM

Samson:  Parliamentary Economic: The 2020 budget includes unprecedented reform clauses

13:51 - 09/11/2019

The Committee on Economy and Investment, the parliamentary, on Saturday, the incomplete draft budget law for 2020 until now by the government, indicating that the government and parliament are ready to adopt reform clauses are the widest within the budget.

Committee member Nada Shaker Jawdat said in a statement to the information that "the government is busy in passing the reform packages to meet the demands of the demonstrators, which caused the delay in sending the draft financial crisis law."

Jawdat said, "The draft budget law will include unprecedented paragraphs on reforms and reliance on the operation of Iraqi hands and the launch of large-scale projects."

Jawdat explained that "the demonstrations have had a significant impact in the adoption of reform tours that political blocs could not pass in 14 years under the pretext of difference," noting that "the government and parliament are ready to pass the budget as scheduled without entering a political debate to disrupt it."  LINK

MilitiaMan:  I like the way they translate things.. lol

The incomplete budget law for 2020 until now.. In other words it is now complete. I'll bet the meeting with the KRI talking about PERMANENT REVENUE SHARING could fall under the category of unprecedented reform clauses,e.e., read HCL..

My best guess is it is apart of it. The now completed 2020 Budget was scheduled to be completed with out disruption. Imagine that.?

Wow! From the sounds of things the attendance was stellar today.. Many things lining up and even in some areas cooling off.. imo.. ~ MM

Samson:  Mullah: Internal and external forces entered the line of demonstrations and will lead Iraq to the unknown

12:21 - 09/11/2019
The former deputy and leader of the Party of Progress Haider al-Mulla, on Saturday, the entry of forces and factors inside and outside the line of popular demonstrations witnessed in the country since the beginning of last October, warning that this will lead Iraq to the unknown.

Mullah said in a statement reported by the newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" and saw it (information), that "it is clear and according to the vision of the religious authority, there are forces and factors internal and external entered the line of demonstrations, and it could lead to the country unknown."

Al-Mulla added, "The vision of the political parties of the decision makers in the field of reform is different from the roofs and the street vision of reform, which leads to the lack of a common space between the two visions and opens the door for an unknown."  LINK

MilitiaMan:  One thing the Citizens now know is how much money the Religious authority has stacked in warehouses now.. That external and internal fact is known in both arenas now. For that matter the external factor is the world at large!! imo Time to start implementing the reforms and pronto. imo ~ MM
