Samson:  Abdul Mahdi: All the demands of the demonstrators are doable

20th November, 2019
Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi stressed the work to reform the country to meet the requirements of comprehensive development and not only respond to legitimate demands.

This came during a meeting on Wednesday with a large gathering of tribal elders and tribal elders from the central and southern governorates, to deliberate on the situation in the country and the reform measures and solutions and ways to enhance security and stability and meet the legitimate demands of protesters and the general public.

During the meeting, the tribal sheikhs reviewed the reality of the governorates in terms of security, service and living, as well as many opinions, demands and proposals related to fighting corruption, operating stalled laboratories, providing job opportunities, supporting the ration card and compensations, in addition to calling for constitutional amendments and imposing the rule of law and the prestige of the state to preserve the state's resources and public and private property and ports. And border ports.

The Prime Minister stressed that "all demands are feasible in cooperation in good times and bad and bear joint responsibility for the interest of Iraq," noting that "the tribes were in the first row in all covenants and extended the battlefields against ISIS with brave men, which is really a reference army and the people and stood with our forces until To achieve victory."

He pointed out that "the government in its first year faced and exceeded many problems, challenges and accumulations, and we are determined to serve our country and our people and fight poverty and corruption and achieve the desired reform."

Regarding the demonstrations, the Prime Minister said that "the demonstrations are legitimate and the constitution respects freedom of expression. It has revealed the imbalances in the political system and the various issues of life that must be addressed, and must provide a safe investment environment to attract companies and reduce dependence on oil and to increase resources and jobs." "When we assumed responsibility, we turned to rely on the Iraqi people, especially the peasants in the case of investment of the rainy season and the cultivation of grain, which achieved an increase in production rates and delivered their dues immediately despite the financial crisis in order to ensure and encourage farmers to continue to cultivate their land in the coming seasons and strengthen the Iraqi economy."

Dependence on the state is dangerous because its monopoly on money is rife with corruption and therefore we are trying to change these contexts with a new vision.  LINK

ChrisC:  Remember the scene in The Princess Bride where the Sheriff is blocking the way to a locked door and they ask for the key?  He replies "there is no key", the Dread Pirate Roberts says "Fezik, rip off his arms", to which the sheriff replies "oh, you mean this key".  It is funny how impossible feats become possible when the right pressure is applied.
