• No confirmed recipients of asset-backed funds could be found

• Questions (including from James / James K) about whether anyone has received monetary / asset-backed funds

• Some flippers received fiat, but they flipped it to someone else who is holding for the big exchange: does not count this as true receipt of the asset-backed funds

• Full disclosure is required when answering these questions.

• Bond update for the day: a number of updates received.

• A couple of bond contacts reported receiving paperwork over the weekend that they describe as the trigger

• They stated an amazing week is coming :buckle up

• Expected to hear something probably by Tuesday evening

• Advice: stay calm, stay rational

• A LOT is going on; mainstream news &news out of the Middle East will show pieces indicating an inflection point / crisis point

• Rumors circulating around Bonham

• Do not jump off a cliff if you do not have it yet; we are close :wait/stay calm

• Al-Maidi reveals Iraq’s move to borrow $5.4 billion from the IMF

• Question raised: if they can borrow from the IMF during this temporary crisis involving Hormuz &Iran, why do they need to revalue the currency?

• Mountain Goat’s view: it destroys the parallel market & is a step toward revaluation

• Significant volume of Iraqi news over the weekend / this morning points to exactly what Mountain Goat described

• Central Bank of Iraq: allows exchange of damaged currency from your place without review.

• New electronic system so exchanges can be handled electronically & currency that needs to be removed from circulation can be verified

Useful if suddenly needing to take in all circulating money (assess condition, create a platform)

If preparing to exchange all current currency, strong procedures are required & they just put them in place

Central Bank of Iraq announced on Sunday, 18 October, development of a new electronic system allowing citizens to submit applications to replace damaged banknotes through the government’s OWN platform

Part of plans for digital transformation & simplification of banking procedures:

• Statements /multiple articles exist, including from the Central Bank of Iraq itself

• Not cherry-picking — coverage is widespread (“the whole tree of cherries”)

• System simplifies procedures and facilitates citizens’ access in a faster, more organized manner

• Must be rolled out to everybody

• Is it that big a deal to build this massive platform for digital currency exchange?

Are they prepared to change everybody’s currency? The same mechanism would be used.

• Government advisor: success of the damaged currency exchange platform depends on ease of use & speed of completion.

From the Central Bank of Iraq website itself:

Damaged and defective banknotes and the criteria for their replacement.

Banknote circulation and replacement instructions, standards, counting and sorting mechanisms.

What is negotiable, what condition qualifies, what does not, and the amounts that can be exchanged.

Rules covering confiscation of counterfeit notes, perforated notes, number of tears, writing on notes, etc.

Limits on how many can be exchanged each day.

Source-of-funds requirements.

Tracking source of funds so Iran and other problematic actors cannot take advantage of the exchange.

Described as a brilliant way to present and manage the process.

MP Dunaway post: news flash from Iraq informing people over the weekend that they are preparing to remove zeros from the dinar within months, with a whole new program for it.

News is telling the public they are getting ready to replace their currency.

They have created a platform for exchanging said currency.

They have stated their goal is to raise the value of the currency and the purchasing power of all Iraqis.

Articles are spelling it out one after another — read them and the direction is clear.

The $5.4 billion figure circulating in some Iraqi commentary is not confirmed in the official IMF/Georgieva statements. Those statements only say Iraq requested a program and the IMF will support it firmly with money and policy advice. The exact amount and final terms are still under negotiation.

Are the IMF program and the currency exchange system linked? No official link has been reported.

• The IMF discussions concern a possible new financing/program package for Iraq (money + policy support) amid economic pressures (oil exports via Hormuz, budget deficits, etc.).

• The damaged-currency platform is a separate Central Bank of Iraq digital service launched on 18 October 2026 to let citizens apply online via the Ur portal to replace damaged banknotes. CBI frames it as part of its digital transformation and simplification of banking procedures.

• None of the official CBI statements or the IMF coverage connect the two. The currency platform is a “routine operational/digital upgrade for existing banknote replacement rules”; it is not described as preparation for a redenomination, revaluation, or full currency swap tied to the IMF program.

The video treats them as related steps toward a larger currency change. Public reporting so far presents them as separate developments.

The strongest “official” position remains that no zero-removed currency has been issued and no final decision on redenomination has been made.
