Today's Smile Post - Let's Dance

(Note from Dinar Recaps - With everything bad happening around us these days, we are starting a daily post, with a glimmer of hope, or distraction for a few minutes. Leave comments below if you have some good ideas for additional posts.)

While at home now, why not spend some time checking out these music & dance videos from the past – there’s nothing quite like music and dancing to give you a break from the stresses of life and uplift one’s spirit

Our energetic and inquisitive African penguins are visitor favorites

We feed the African penguins in our Splash Zone exhibit multiple times a day, sometimes by hand to make sure they get their daily vitamin, and sometimes by tossing food into the water to stimulate foraging behavior. Watch for underwater acrobatics as the penguins dart and dive to catch their fish.

Sea Otter Cam

Enjoy our sea otters as they frolic and swim. If you see the Monterey Bay on screen instead of our Sea Otter exhibit, don't worry! The otters will be back shortly, we promise.

Moon Jelly Cam

These dreamy drifters know how to go with the flow.

Watch moon jellies move with the current as they pulsate their delicate, translucent bells. They sport several distinctive characteristics, including bright, petal-like gonads in the center of their bells and a fine stinging fringe that they use to hunt prey. Different foods can transform them into a kaleidoscopic array of colors. If they feed extensively on crustaceans, they’ll turn pink or lavender. An orange tint hints that they’ve been feeding on brine shrimp.

Shark Cam

Spot sharks, rays and other fishes as they cruise through our rocky reef

Sevengill sharks, leopard sharks, spiny dogfish and the elusive Pacific angel shark all dwell in our Monterey Bay Habitats exhibit — like they do just beyond our walls in the cold waters of the bay. Designed with sharks in mind, this exhibit's 90-foot-long hourglass shape gives our big sharks plenty of room to glide and turn.

Watch carefully and you might see big skates and bat rays pass by the window, just like their shark kin. Plus, keep your eyes peeled for sturgeon coasting through the water, rockfish and giant sea bass relaxing by the reef, and flatfish nestling on the sandy seafloor.
