Will the Dinar Strengthen or Collapse?
By Reset Intelligence | @EXIT_FIAT
Over one weekend, Iraq moved the currency question out of the committee rooms and onto the evening news.
State television framed it as one question: after the zeros come off, does the dinar strengthen or collapse.
The governor
The Central Bank of Iraq governor, Nizar Nasser Hussein, briefed parliament’s finance committee and described the current monetary stance as a “gradual transition to support the real economy.” Central bankers do not call a policy a transition unless they know where it is going.
The chart
The same weekend an economist, al-Ashaiqer of the Injah Center, went on Iraq Al-Hadath television with the plain version: deleting the zeros from the dinar is a step without value unless the currency is pegged to the dollar. He showed 50 years of charts, Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, each one volatile until the day its state pegged, then a flat line for decades. He said that flat line is where the Central Bank of Iraq is steering.
The bill and the perimeter
• Finance minister al-Sari – asked to be hosted before parliament to explain the crisis; the number he carries is a 16 billion dollar deficit for the first half of 2026.
• Washington – Treasury Secretary Bessent took the podium Monday to detail the Iran isolation package he calls an economic D-Day.
• The tell – no government teaches its own people how money works, seals its borders against cash, and walks them through redenomination on prime time in order to preside over a collapse. Collapse does not need a curriculum.
The only question history will ask is who saw it while it was actually happening.

Omar The CBI has officially made the announcement that they have opened the exchange rate review. This rate has been closed since the rate was changed back in 2023. At least we know they are reviewing a change. This is so encouraging compared to this last week...At least we know the file is open.
Stephen What we are seeing the last few months is an acceleration period like we have never seen before...We have never seen this much progress that we have seen in all of the last 23 years combined. It's absolutely incredible what we're seeing in the last few months...We are seeing things happen at break-neck speed...We don't know how much longer this is going to go. I am personally am excited...Could it be September...October... November...December? Nobody knows...
Frank26 [Iraq boots-on-the-ground report] OMAR: The television is telling us...they're going to delete the zeros...and repeating it over and over. They don't go into the next part and define how is it that we're going to be getting purchasing power through the lower denominations. And also when you get it out of our borders, they're going to delete the zeros is all they keep telling us, not giving us any value...It's just a cosmetic fix is what they're telling us. FRANK: I disagree with the television because lifting the three zeros will definitely make your currency worth at least 76 cents...Then we will take it to a dollar or $3.22 or $4.25 outside of your country. Inside, your goal is 1 to 1.

America Hits $40 Trillion in Debt — The Real Crisis Is Here
Lena Petrova: 8-25-2026
America’s national debt has crossed an unprecedented and historic milestone, officially surpassing the $40 trillion mark. While headline figures of this magnitude often spark intense political debate, the true economic significance of this number lies far beyond the sheer scale of the balance sheet.
For economists, investors, and everyday citizens, the immediate concern is not just the total amount owed, but the rapidly escalating cost of servicing this debt in a high-interest-rate environment.
