Wednesday 08 September 2021 10:38........... The spokesman for the Council of Ministers and Minister of Culture, Hassan Nazim, announced the recovery of a new group of smuggled Iraqi antiquities that will arrive in Iraq at the end of this month.

The Minister of Culture, Hassan Nazim, said, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency ( NINA ), that "a new group of smuggled antiquities will reach Iraq at the end of this month or during the next month, at the latest, as all legal procedures have been completed to recover them," noting that The United States is the most cooperative with Iraq to recover the smuggled antiquities."

He added, "The US State Department has completed its legal procedures to hand over this group of antiquities, including the Gilgamesh Tablet, which is an important part of the Iraqi heritage," noting that "the new group is other than the 17,000 pieces that were recovered from Washington during the recent visit of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi. ".

The spokesman for the Council of Ministers confirmed, “There are recovery files in Europe that we are still working on, because there are difficulties with some countries whose laws in force permit the preservation of Iraqi antiquities,” pointing out that “the UN resolution to prevent smuggling and non-trafficking of Iraqi antiquities, and protocol agreements between Iraq and countries. Shafaq News/ The U.S. dollar (USD) exchange rates against the Iraqi dinar (IQD) dropped in the markets of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, today, Wednesday.

Shafaq News Agency correspondent said that the dollar stabilized at 147,400 IQD for every 100 USD in al-Kifah and al-Harithiya Central Exchanges.

Yesterday, both central exchanges traded the 100 USD at 147,500 IQD.

The buying and selling rates of the USD in Baghdad's local market stood at 148,000 and 147,000 IQD for every 100, respectively.

While the buying and selling rates of the USD in Erbil's local market dropped to 147,600 and 147,000 IQD for every 100, respectively.

Shafaq News/ The US-led Coalition conducted today, Wednesday, in Erbil Governorate a ceremony to hand over military equipment and vehicles to the Peshmerga forces.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Brigadier General Hoshmand Haider, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Peshmerga, said in a joint press conference with the Coalition that The equipment consists of military vehicles, confirming that equipping the Peshmerga forces is an "important step" because it would raise and develop their military and combat capabilities.

Haider also called on the Global Coalition to continue providing logistical support to the Peshmerga.

In turn, Colonel Tad Boris, Senior Adviser of the Coalition in the Kurdistan Region, said, “We and the Peshmerga forces have one goal, which is to defeat the enemy, and in the future we will continue to work together within this framework.”

He added that the Global Coalition forces will support the Peshmerga forces to eliminate ISIS, expressing his hope that these forces will benefit from the military assistance provided to them.
