I was raised with lots of snow and ice and I refuse to drive with all the crazy folks that feel they can do it, but those always wind up in the ditch. There is so much news out there and since Zig wanted all information to be posted, so I figured why not put the information out there what is happening here in our own country.

butterfly   Warsaw warns of 'war' in Europe 3 hours ago................... Poland's Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau warned that Europe was in danger of going to war, while Russia said it had not yet given up on diplomacy, but military experts were preparing options in case they failed to calm tensions over the crisis.

There was no breakthrough in the Vienna meeting, which came after talks between Russia and the United States after a series of meetings between the two parties in Geneva and Brussels, and another meeting between Russia and NATO.

"At this point, it's really frustrating," Russian Ambassador Alexander Lukashevich told reporters after the meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the third stop in a series of East-West talks this week. He warned of "catastrophic consequences" if the two sides did not agree on what Russia described as security red lines, but added that Moscow had not yet given up on diplomacy and would rather accelerate it.

"The drums of war are resounding, and the tone of the rhetoric is becoming more and more intense," Michael Carpenter, the US ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, said after talks with Russia in Vienna. For its part, Russia said that the dialogue is continuing but has reached a dead end, while seeking to persuade the West to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO and stop the alliance's expansion in Europe, which the United States has described as impossible.

butterfly   In Washington, the White House said that the risk of a Russian invasion of Ukraine remains high, with the deployment of nearly 100,000 Russian soldiers, and the United States will publish within 24 hours intelligence information indicating that Russia may seek to create a pretext to justify the invasion.

"The risk of a military invasion is high," US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters. "No dates have been set for any further talks," he added. We must consult with allies and partners first.” "It seems that the threat of war in the OSCE region is now greater than at any time during the past 30 years," Poland's foreign minister told the 57-nation security forum.

His comments highlighted the extent of European concern about Russia's buildup of nearly 100,000 troops near its border with Ukraine. Russia denies planning to invade Ukraine, but the military buildup has forced the United States and its allies to the negotiating table.

On the sidelines of a meeting with her European Union counterparts in the French city of Brest on Friday, German Foreign Minister Annalina Birbock said that she will travel to Moscow next week for talks on the Ukraine crisis. But it reduced the chances of a quick solution to the crisis.

"One of the characteristics of diplomacy in any crisis is that it requires a lot of perseverance, patience and strong nerves... For this reason, it is very important to take advantage of the various channels of communication by all means."

butterfly   In a related context, yesterday, Friday, it was not possible to access Ukrainian government websites, including the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, after a number of government websites were subjected to a major information attack, according to the authorities, at a time when tension escalated between Kiev and Moscow. The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, confirmed that representatives of the European Union's Political and Security Committee will hold an urgent meeting to discuss the attack, which he said "deserves condemnation."

Borrell told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of EU foreign ministers that the EU's rapid electronic response unit had been activated. "We are mobilizing all our resources to help Ukraine deal with this type of cyber attack," he said.

He asked all EU governments to participate, "even if Ukraine is not a member" of the bloc. Ukraine and its Western allies have accused Moscow several times of launching cyber attacks on their websites and infrastructure, which Russia denies. And before access to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was disrupted, a message was posted on the home page in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish.

"Ukrainians, fear and prepare for the worst," the letter read, according to an AFP correspondent. All your personal data has been uploaded to the Internet.” The letter was accompanied by several slogans, including a crossed out Ukrainian flag.

The Ministry of Education and Science announced on its Facebook page that its official website was "temporarily closed due to the comprehensive attack." Ukraine has been targeted several times by cyber attacks in recent years, especially in 2017, important infrastructure and in 2015 its electrical network. https://rawabetcenter.com/archives/141049

Butterfly   Mazhar Saleh: The white paper is an economic constitution... and the budget awaits Parliament

2022.01.15 - 21:22  On Saturday, the economic advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, spoke about the fate of the 2022 budget and the course of the white paper.

Saleh said in a statement to the official agency, followed by "Nas" (January 15, 2022): "The white paper is an economic constitution that respects economic life in the future, it must respect what was stated in the paper."

He pointed out that "the white paper needs an appendix to the policies and for the future on how to implement them. It is a correct and reform path. For the first time, it becomes an understanding and belief that the economy is reformed on the basis of a document that we call the economic constitution."

He ruled out that "the next government will cancel the white paper and reforms and may amend and improve them or add other policies because they were established correctly."

On the fate of the 2022 budget, Salih explained, "The budget awaits the integration of the legislative body and its committees, and I think that the first project that the new Iraqi parliament will study is the budget."

He continued, "The budget is now with the Ministry of Finance and is awaiting the formation of the legislative and executive bodies to send it to Parliament," stressing that "the vision exists and the next government will study it, and the next parliament will set its vision under the constitution." https://nasnews.com/view.php?cat=78188

butterfly   A new statement from Barzani's party regarding the two parliamentary seats

2022.01.15 - 15:02   The head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc in the House of Representatives, Vian Sabri, announced, on Saturday, that in the near future, according to legal procedures, they will try to work to return two seats in parliament to the constituencies of Nineveh and Erbil.

Sabri said in a statement to the party's official website, followed by "Nas" (January 15, 2022), that "after holding the first meeting of the House of Representatives in accordance with the constitution, we can submit appeals to regain two seats that were deducted from the party in the districts of Nineveh and Erbil."
