Economic   Last Update 11/26/2021 | 10:59 Am   Today, Friday, the exchange rate of the dollar in Lebanon on the black market (budgetary) crossed the threshold of 25,000 Lebanese pounds, its highest level since the start of the economic crisis in 2019.   The dollar exchange rate ranged between 2540 and 2550 pounds for sale and 24,990 and 2500 pounds for purchase.

At the beginning of this month, the price of the dollar recorded about 22 thousand, and on November 12, its price crossed the threshold of 23 thousand pounds for the first time since July, during Saad Hariri’s apology for forming the government. Friday 26 November 2021 Oil prices tumbled by more than 10 percent, the largest daily decline since April 2020, amid increasing investor concern after the discovery of a new mutated strain of Corona.

Oil fell along with global stock markets on fears that the new strain, which Britain said was the most important strain discovered so far of the Corona virus, could impose travel restrictions and undermine economic growth and fuel demand.

This reinforced fears of a global oversupply inflation in the first quarter of next year.

By this evening, Brent crude fell by $8.77, to $73.45 a barrel, which is equivalent to 10.7 percent.

West Texas Intermediate crude fell $9.12 (11.6 percent) to $69.27 a barrel, after the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States on Thursday.

The two crudes are heading to record losses for the fifth consecutive week and the largest declines ever since April 2020.

Britain and other European countries imposed travel restrictions from South African countries where the new strain was detected.

And authorities around the world moved with great concern, today, Friday, after news of the discovery of the new strain in South Africa, and the European Union and Britain were among the regions that tightened travel procedures, while researchers sought to find out whether the mutations of the new strain were resistant to vaccines.
