Posted, 2021-09-02   The Presidency of Parliament announces the suspension of the salaries of absent deputiesThe Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives warned the members of the Council of taking deterrent measures against absentees, including cutting their salaries, after a new session was dissolved for lack of a quorum.

Deputy Parliament Speaker Bashir Al-Haddad said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the sessions of the House of Representatives will be held after the quorum is completed.”

He pointed out that “the Presidency did not succeed in holding a session, despite setting the date for more than once, due to the lack of a quorum and the reason for the preoccupation of a large number of deputies running for the upcoming elections in electoral campaigns.”

He added, “The Presidency decided to suspend the salary of absent deputies, and we will return to work in the event that the quorum is not repeated.”

And he indicated that “the presidency of the parliament will work to stop the salaries of absent deputies, cut part of it, or stop it completely.” He pointed out that if a session was held with a full quorum, the laws ready for voting could be passed.    burathanews.com

Al-Amiri told Shafaq News Agency, “After the date of December 31, 2021, there will be no foreign forces on Iraqi soil, including the American, French and Turkish.”

Iraq and the United States had agreed on the withdrawal of all American combat forces from the country by the end of this year, but French President Emmanuel Macron pledged during his recent visit to Iraq, the survival of the French forces affiliated with the international coalition, and continuing to help in the fight against terrorism.

But Al-Amiri responded to Macron’s speech by saying, “This is the decision of the Iraqis, not the decision of French President Emmanuel Macron.”

He added, “When the foreign occupation forces leave Iraqi territory, all security forces will be united to build the Iraqi state.”

With regard to the future of the Popular Mobilization, Al-Amiri said, “The Popular Mobilization is fighting, defending, and providing blood for the survival of the country’s political process.”

The Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant-General Abdul Amir Yarallah, confirmed to Shafaq News Agency, that the military forces are able to maintain security and stability in the country after the departure of the American forces.

This was reported by Saudi media, and explained that this came during the meeting of the Transport, Border Ports and Ports Committee of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, today, in Riyadh, headed by the Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser on the Saudi side, and the Minister of Transport Nasser Al-Shibli on the Iraqi side.
