Skinman: I wonder if people in Iraq think the United Nations is going to come in and save them like the cavalry?
Mangelo: I believe so, look, the framework will not concede...they want the power and keep the status quo.... miliki wants to stay in... causing problems.... Sadar just wants the crooks out and start with new elections. They need to fix the loop holes in their constitution....and since the UN doesn't want the Iraqi people destroy everything...thants when they will step in...in my opinion…I believe the new target date is the 25th...
Speedy: I did not see anywhere the speech stating the UN would step in to do anything other than support progress.
Skinman: I see the UN wanting Iraq to fix their own problems, in some ways it’s like asking a baby to change its own diapers
Skinman: It’s not meaning to be negative I just don’t think they’re going to settle their own problems and worst case scenario they create a Civil War and that would be devastating not just them to the hopes of our investment
RVAlready: The UN Security Council needed a formal report before it could act. Now, it has that report. The UN Security Council is one of the most powerful bodies in existence. This is why Sadr basically begged them not to take over in Iraq. The security council can authorize anything, including maximum military force. But, I doubt that is the first tool they would use to solve this problem.
Yada: At the end of the day and all the speculatioin rvalready, THIS puts everything into perspective. It puts them on notice when the UN does take action which could be any moment.
Skinman: So do you think that the United Nations is going to give Iraq until the 25th or do you think on the 25th they might shake the finger at them again?
RVALready: I bet if you gave them 2 hours to solve the problem, and said you were dropping a 40 megaton nuke on Baghdad right after the deadline, the problem would get solved in a New York minute. It is just going to take the right threat level from the security council to get this solved.
RVAlready: It might mean a temporary take over of their government. Maybe a military force to arrest all the corrupt, and put them in UN prison camps. The UN needs to get creative. For sure, the UN has given them too many chances to fix it themselves. They are like the kids who have been told 16 times to come in for dinner. It is now time for some discipline.
