Debts to France Lead to the Battle of Puebla

Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. In 1861, Benito Juárez—a lawyer and member of the Indigenous Zapotec tribe—was elected president of Mexico.

At the time, the country was in financial ruin after years of internal strife, and the new president was forced to default on debt payments to European governments. Sound familiar?

In response, France, Britain and Spain sent naval forces to Veracruz, Mexico, demanding repayment. Britain and Spain negotiated with Mexico and withdrew their forces. France, however, ruled by Napoleon III, decided to use the opportunity to carve an empire out of Mexican territory. Late in 1861, a well-armed French fleet stormed Veracruz, landing a large force of troops and driving President Juárez and his government into retreat.

Certain that success would come swiftly, 6,000 French troops under General Charles Latrille de Lorencez set out to attack Puebla de Los Angeles, a small town in east-central Mexico. From his new headquarters in the north, Juárez rounded up a ragtag force of 2,000 loyal men—many of them either Indigenous Mexicans or of mixed ancestry—and sent them to Puebla.

The vastly outnumbered and poorly supplied Mexicans, led by Texas-born General Ignacio Zaragoza, fortified the town and prepared for the French assault. On May 5, 1862, Lorencez gathered his army—supported by heavy artillery—before the city of Puebla and led an assault. The battle lasted from daybreak to early evening, and when the French finally retreated they had lost nearly 500 soldiers. Fewer than 100 Mexicans had been killed in the clash.

Napoleon had figured that if he could get his hands-on Mexico, it could become the first colony in a new French stronghold in North America. Abraham Lincoln was busy fighting the Civil War, so the Americans wouldn’t stand in Napoleon’s way. Even better, with a French puppet government installed in Mexico City, Napoleon could provide guns to the Confederacy in exchange for Southern cotton, a scarce commodity in Europe thanks to Union shipping blockades.

So in early 1862, well-trained French forces under the confident command of General Charles de Lorencez, marched from the port city of Veracruz with the aim of capturing Mexico City. But on May 5, the French took a surprise beating at Puebla at the hands of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza and a ragtag group of enlisted and volunteer troops.

The French army retreated to Veracruz to lick its wounds and wouldn’t return to take Puebla until a full year later in May of 1863. Some contend that the year-long delay of the French invasion gave Abraham Lincoln’s generals just enough time to win decisive Union victories before Napoleon could provide upgraded artillery and munitions to the Confederacy.

A Fitting Analogy

The present-day war in Ukraine, along with the debt and bankruptcy of every nation in the world tied to a European oligarchy, via controlled entities/minions: BIS, IMF, WTO, WEF, UST, Central Banks, with a well-defined plot to rule the world. All about to be upset by a small, brilliant, determined, “ragtag group” of volunteer troops and agents known as, “White Hats.”

This brilliant “ragtag group” of volunteer troops and agents have managed to force the CABAL through so many hoops, they have no where to hide. Laws written to corral and maneuver these scofflaws have led to a new Sovereign digital currency that is incorruptible.

Of the last remaining holdouts – Iraq and Venezuela, there only remains Venezuela, which must sign its acknowledgment/Agreement of ISO 20022 by Saturday. As required, Iraq has signed and delivered its paperwork yesterday. Iraq is set to go along with the rest of the GOLDEN DINAR community.
