The Ministry of Interior will launch this year the electronic passport, which carries more than 17 non-forgery security marks, stressing that its issuance will raise its global rating.
The Director General of Passport Affairs in the Ministry, Brigadier Majid Adnan Ahmed, told Al-Sabah, followed by Mawazine News, that the current year will witness the launch of the electronic passport after it has been referred to the executing company represented by the Martyrs Fund and Sky Horizon Company, which has reached an advanced stage of work. Implementation," adding that "software will soon be installed in passport offices to be ready for issuing and reading the passport."
He noted that "issuing the electronic passport to citizens will be gradual, including the passports in force only, and an office in Baghdad will be chosen as a start to be on a trial basis for issuance, after which other offices will be approved, and then all directorates of passport affairs in Baghdad and the provinces will be included in the project."
Ahmed indicated that "there are a number of advantages that the electronic passport carries, as it includes more than 17 security signs that cannot be falsified, and the data sheet will be made of ivory paper, and it will carry a SIM card and an eye print in addition to the ten fingers, in addition to that it bears the name of the organization Global Aviation, which includes more than 170 countries,” noting that “issuing the electronic passport will enable it to raise its global classification.” LINK
