A message attributed to Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi on Saturday revealed his assignment by President of the Republic Barham Ahmed Saleh to the post of Prime Minister to succeed resigning Adel Abdul Mahdi.

The text of the attributed letter states:

I extend my sincere thanks to His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, and all the brothers who have placed their trust in us and made unremitting efforts to serve the country through my assignment to this task.

I cannot fail to thank the rational authority for its patriarchal and guiding role for all of our dear countrymen, especially in this crucial stage in the history of Iraq.

This mandate puts in my neck a great historical responsibility, so I pledge to God and I pledge to my honorable people that I seek all the possibilities I have to serve this country and promise them that the blood of the martyrs of the demonstrators and the security forces will not be in vain, and the aggressors and criminals will be held accountable and submitted to the judiciary to obtain their just punishment.

I pledge, God willing, to form a government away from sectarian, partisan, and narrow sectional quotas, representing all the diverse spectrums and cultures of the honorable Iraqi people, and to involve the most talented of the sons and daughters of our people.

I pledge to prepare for early elections in consultation with the relevant authorities, including the Independent High Electoral Commission and the United Nations, as a primary partner for Iraq in this regard, according to constitutional mechanisms and laws in force. In this regard, I urge the distinguished parliament to expedite the completion of the election law in order to meet the people's conquests and in accordance with the directions of the rational authority. I pledge to protect the electoral protection process and to stand against any interference that might affect the integrity, fairness, and transparency of its results, and to restore public confidence in it.

I also pledge to provide the greatest amount of work opportunities to citizens by starting development, industrial, production and housing projects, and creating investment renaissance and laying the foundations for changing the rentier economy approach to an investment economy away from full dependence on oil resources.

I pledge to achieve security and safety for all the Iraqi people, to confine arms to the state, and that there is no authority above the rule of law, and I pledge to protect peaceful demonstrators and release innocent detainees in accordance with the constitution, law, and coordination with the judiciary.

I also pledge to protect Iraq from any foreign interference, and I will not allow Iraq to be an arena for settling scores and conflicts. I hope the international and regional community will be of assistance to Iraq at this sensitive stage, given that the security of Iraq is among the security of the region and the world at large, especially as we still face an enemy that is waiting for us, which is terrorism. Iraq must restore its positive and neutral role in achieving stability for the region and the world.

I pledge to submit a periodic report to the Iraqi people through the House of Representatives on the progress of the government or the challenges it faces.

I also call for an immediate dialogue with peaceful demonstrators to work to achieve their legitimate demands in accordance with the constitution and the law, and I will personally supervise this dialogue.

I wish my sons and daughters from the Iraqi people to be a help and support for me after I rely on God Almighty to solve the country's crises and bring him to safety.

May God have mercy on the martyrs of Iraq and our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Iraq lived free and happy for itself

Frank26  ...IMO when they give you the Prime Minister somewhere in that ballpark range of 30 days I believe they are going to release the new rate and new small category notes...the prime minister that the citizens want will be granted to them IMO by the United States of America at a specific time where that time-frame we believe they will release the new rate and the new currency...

Jeff   Article Quote "The budget bill is compete and will be sent immediately to the parliament after the formation of the new government"  ...that's great news because that's just telling us everything...demonstrators demands, article 140, HCL, the budget everything with the country of Iraq is very clearly waiting on the rate change...

Jeff    ...when Iraq had their internal differences typically a representative inside the U.S. Embassy in Iraq would meet with them.  Coach them...help them resolve their political differences...after Mahdi resigned at the beginning of December just roughly a week later Salih flew to Washington to meet with Trump...Approximately 24 days later they amended the election law...and then they amended the Financial Management Law...remember this is a classified event.  That's why they have to mislead us and make Iraq look more unstable than it really is.  IMO I firmly believe the formation of the government  is complete...the budget and everything in Iraq right now is waiting on the rate change.  That has to happen first, then everything else including the budget can start...
