Iraq's Teachers Are Calling On Saleh Not To Approve The 2021 Budget
Money and business Economy News – Baghdad The Iraqi Teachers Union called on President Barham Salih not to approve the draft federal budget approved by Parliament, on Wednesday, until an amendment is made to ensure the rights of thousands of teachers are granted temporary contracts in schools.
Teachers have been working on temporary contracts in schools for 10 years for free, in the hope that they will be installed on permanent contracts and will receive monthly salaries.
The head of the Iraqi Teachers Syndicate, Abbas Al-Sudani, said during a press conference held in Baghdad yesterday, Sunday, that "teachers on temporary contracts have made efforts in the Education Department for free without any monthly dues."
Al-Sudani added that all teachers will stand by force to convert free-working teachers into permanent paid contracts, and that any services provided without paying a fee for this are exploitation and a procedure contrary to the law.
The protests area of teachers appointed on temporary contracts covers 15 Iraqi governorates, excluding the governorates of the Kurdistan region.
The captain called on the Prime Minister to "increase the financial allocations specified in the budget to convert temporary teacher contracts to fixed ... We call for the budget not to be approved until the amendment is made to the paragraph on teachers."
The country's draft budget for 2021 included an item under the name of "grant" that would be offered to teachers on temporary contracts, without clarifying the mechanism of its distribution, which was rejected by the union.
Malek Hadi, "the representative of the free lecturers", said in press statements that the total number of teachers working for free in the country in the education sector is 140,000.

The bloc submitted a request for fundamental amendments to the overall budget, the most important of which was the reduction of the dollar exchange rate, and its demand was supported by (113) deputies, and the date of this request was 1/23/2021, that is, more than sixty days before the vote on the Budget Law was followed by assurances from the bloc in the emergence of its media members. And the issuance of detailed data supported by scientific data on the error and harm of this decision.
4. The role and position of the National Approach bloc was not limited to rejecting the exchange rate decision and denouncing it only, but rather it made a sincere and clear national effort to every fair person, by studying all the original and added materials for the budget, and nearly issued detailed positions on most of the articles that warned of their danger in statements, conferences and television interviews until they occurred Hiraka and spread an in-depth culture on the details of the budget and the seriousness of many of its original and added materials,
and its efforts, praise be to God, resulted in the creation of a pressing public opinion that forced many to vote by canceling the disastrous materials (38,41,42,47) that were paving the way for the sale of state assets and agricultural lands, privatizing all sectors, and engaging Owned contractors and investors, including the oil and gas sector, hospitals, Iraqi Airways aircraft ... and many others.
5. As evidencing that the position of the National Approach bloc is based on a clear vision and a deliberate decision in diagnosing the dangers of this economic and social budget, it announced its position to boycott the voting session if the budget was not modified with fundamental amendments affecting at least forty articles, which it announced on 2/27/2021 before the vote on The budget for about a month,
