The Russian War On Ukraine Causes Huge Damage To The Merchants Of Iraq And Kurdistan

The Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce revealed that there are strong commercial relations between Ukraine, the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in general, noting that trade business with Ukraine has been permanently stopped due to the imposition of the Russian war on it.

A member of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce, Peshua Sirwan, told the chamber's website, "Their business with Ukraine has completely stopped due to the announcement of the emergency in it, in addition to stopping all factories and production in Ukraine," adding that they were greatly affected as a result.

United Nations: We Are Committed To Fully Support Iraq

Today, Friday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed that Iraq's current policy is based on the principle of dialogue.

A ministry statement stated, "The Foreign Minister met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, to discuss the latest developments in the situation in Iraq and the region."

Hussein expressed Iraq’s thanks to the United Nations for its support in various fields, the efforts of the United Nations mission in Baghdad, and the assistance it provides to displaced families in cooperation with international organizations to provide the necessary necessities to enhance security and stability in Iraq, adding: We look forward to a greater role for the United Nations in efforts to rebuild Iraq. to Iraqi cities, and the return of the displaced to their areas of residence.

Hussein praised the role of the United Nations and the Security Council in supporting the electoral process in Iraq, noting that “political forces are intensifying their dialogues to form the new government and provide the necessary atmosphere to maintain constitutional timings, pointing to the approval of the Federal Supreme Court on the final results of the 2021 Iraqi parliament elections.

And it issued its decision on the constitutionality of the first session of the Iraqi parliament, which was held on December 9, 2022, which led to the election of the Speaker and his two deputies.

The minister touched on Iraq's relations with neighboring countries as well as the Arab Gulf states, and stressed that "Iraq's current policy is based on the principle of dialogue, communication, building good and balanced relations to solve outstanding problems, and avoiding the use of force, because it complicates solutions and threatens regional security."

For his part, the Secretary-General of the United Nations congratulated Iraq for adopting Security Council Resolution No. (2621) on February 22, 2022 and voting on the resolution unanimously.

António Guterres affirmed: "We are committed to full support for Iraq, and we highly appreciate its role in building bridges between the surrounding regional countries and gathering opposites at one table, as he did at the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, and we hope that the Iraqi government will continue this fruitful foreign policy and create an atmosphere of dialogue between countries. And for Iraq to play this pivotal role in the region."   The Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed his strong desire to visit Iraq.

Parliament Publishes The Agenda For Monday's Session

A deputy clarifies about Parliament hosting the Minister of Finance: It is not currently possible
