Parliament: Opening The Door For Candidacy For The Post Of President Of The Republic, Starting Tomorrow

Political  | 01:35 - 05/03/2022   Baghdad - Mawazine News  The House of Representatives announced today, Saturday, the opening of the nomination for the position of President of the Republic, starting tomorrow and for a period of three days.

A statement by the Media Department of the House of Representatives, received by Mawazine News, stated, "Based on the Law of Nomination Provisions for the Post of President of the Republic No. (Cool for the year 2012 and the approval of the House of Representatives to reopen the nomination for the position of President of the Republic in session No. (3) on March 5th. /2022, the House of Representatives announces the opening of candidacy for the position.

Those wishing to nominate who meet the conditions stipulated in Article 1 of the aforementioned law and referred to below must submit their written applications accompanied by official documents proving that they meet the conditions and their CVs to Presiding over the House of Representatives and handing it over during official working hours to the (Legal Department in the House of Representatives) located at the Conference Palace headquarters, starting from Sunday, March 6, 2022 for a period of three days.

The statement pointed out that "the conditions that must be met by the candidate are:

1. He must be Iraqi by birth and of Iraqi parents.

2. He must be fully qualified and have completed forty years of age.

3. He should have a good reputation, political experience, and be known for his integrity, uprightness, justice, and loyalty to the homeland.

4. That his academic achievement is not less than the initial university degree recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq.

5. He must not have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude.

6. He shall not be covered by the provisions of the Accountability and Justice Law procedures or any procedures that replace them.

Required official documents:

1. A written request to the Presidency of the House of Representatives of the desire to run for the position of President of the Republic.

2. Personal documents proving that the person wishing to run is Iraqi by birth and that his parents are Iraqis by presenting the civil status identity and Iraqi citizenship certificate for the candidate and his parents.

3. A detailed curriculum vitae that includes evidence that the candidate has political experience.

4. A graduation document proving that the candidate has obtained a university degree from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The statement added that those wishing to run must send a photocopy of all the aforementioned official documents via the official e-mail to the legal department.

The American Ambassador In Baghdad Reveals The Most Prominent Contents Of The Memorandum Of Understanding On Water Signed With Iraq

Political | 05:25 - 05/03/2022   Baghdad - Mawazine News, the US ambassador to Baghdad, Matthew Tueller, clarified, on Saturday, the most prominent contents of the memorandum of understanding signed between Iraq and the United States, while referring to his country's attendance at the International Water Conference, which began its work in Baghdad.

"Through the International Water Conference held in Baghdad, we came across the most important challenges affecting climate change and water resources," Toller said in a press statement followed by Mawazine News.

He pointed out that "the US Agency for International Development today signed a cooperation document with the Ministry of Water Resources, and the memorandum is a cooperation and planning tool for water resources management in order to support the Iraqi government in water resources operations and other activities related to water resources."

He added, "This support and commitment from the US Agency for International Development to the Iraqi government, will continue to support it in planning for water resources."

Earlier in the day, Iraq and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding related to the water file in Iraq.

The Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid, signed with the US Ambassador a memorandum of understanding to develop and support the decision to plan for water resources in Iraq.”

The activities of the Second International Water Conference began today, Saturday, in Baghdad, under the auspices of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and under the slogan (Water and Climate Change) with the participation of Arab and foreign countries.

The conference aims, according to its organizers, to achieve sustainable water development and coordination with neighboring riparian countries to reduce damage as a result of water scarcity, in addition to discussing climate changes and their impact on water resources and the global response to this issue.

The conference will discuss the exchange of experiences, overcoming water scarcity, the sustainability of surface and ground water, the preservation of biodiversity, and the development of water policy in line with climatic developments in the world.    https://www.mawazin.net/Details.aspx?jimare=186388

Parliament Presidency: We Strongly Support All Of Al-Sadr's Demands

Political | 03:11 - 05/03/2022   Baghdad - Mawazine News, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, confirmed, on Saturday, that the House of Representatives strongly supported and supported all the true demands put forward by Mr. Al-Sadr.

Al-Zamili said in a tweet followed by Mawazine News: "Parliament is strongly supportive of all the demands put forward by Mr. Al-Sadr, which serve and meet the needs of Iraqi society, especially the poor and disadvantaged segments," noting that "these proposals will be among the parliament's first concerns, and we will work to achieve them with all Necessary capabilities and available powers.
