MilitiaMan and KTFA Members "News and Views" 5-9-2022

KTFA:

MilitiaMan:  The timing of this is looking very good ( See article below)  and lets see how long they take to hammer it out.

I suspect it won't be too long now, as the pressure is imo very strong from many fronts globally to get Article 140 done, get them the synonymous emergency food law and 2022 budget law done..

I have a feeling from the street that they better hurry and also with no significant support for the coordination framework one of their members may need to find a fast plane.. lol ~ MM

Clare:  He is expected to pass it during the next session.. Al-Halbousi's alliance reveals a "single" point of contention in the Food Security Law

 2022-05-09

The "Progress" bloc led by Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi expected, on Monday, the passage of the Food Security Law in the next session of Parliament due to parliamentary support for its legislation, and while it pointed to solving the obstacles to its approval, with the exception of the issue of loans, it confirmed that it represents an alternative to approving the budget to address "" emergency situation in the country.

Representative Faisal Al-Issawi said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency, "The parliament session scheduled to be held next Wednesday may witness a vote on the emergency food security law, which is synonymous with the general budget law as it has the support of the majority of parliament members."

The representative of the Progress Alliance explained that "the law has been amended in accordance with the observations and proposals of members of the House of Representatives, especially those concerned or specialists in this aspect and in proportion to the stage the country is going through."

Al-Issawi added that "the reasons for approving the law are the rise in food prices, and on the other hand, we have a surplus of oil imports as a result of high prices, and there is no budget in the country for this year so far, because the current government is a caretaker, so we had to find a solution to the existing problem, which is the situation The Food Security Law, to address the emergency situation and the difficult situation of the country.

The representative of the Al-Halbousi Alliance explained that "the issue of loans in the food security law is one of the controversial points" and the parliamentary trend goes towards canceling debts in the budgets, pointing out that "the food security law will be temporary, not for all years, but during this stage, because The country is going through a difficult situation."

On April 17, 2022, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hakim Al-Zamili, agreed on the necessity of passing the Food Security Law by the Iraqi Parliament to meet the economic challenges that afflict the world.

Al-Kazemi had called, last April, for the political forces to vote on the food security law without emptying it of its content in order to serve citizens, as it is a "very important" law, indicating that "the goal of the law is to provide the necessary protection for the Iraqi people."

On (3/28/2022), the House of Representatives completed its reading of the report and discussion of the draft law on emergency support for food security and development.  LINK

MilitiaMan:  This should make people sleep a little better now.. lol The emergency food security law is synonymous with the general budget law. It shows that our study has been confirmed to be accurate with respect to relationship with the Food Law and to the 2022 budget.

Having the HCL Article 140 being talked about today and the citizens entitlements we should all be very happy that the citizens are about to get what they deserve.

With having purchasing power ( Protection ) the citizens will have consistent payments and they'll be able to afford many things and food is one of them... imo

HCL is all about money from oil and other assets. That will require an international calculation for the new exchange rate. That imo is why it is an important law.. imo ~ MM

DallasDude:  So just that some of us understand MM..the food security law which is temporary might get voted on separately from the budget Wednesday..but in the big picture it's a non issue..am I correct on this in your opinion

MilitiaMan:  That is what the tell us, Wednesday both maybe on the table. As for being temporary, there will or likely will be timelines set for currency exchange. I am not sure if that is part of it or not, however, we have been told over the years there will be. We shall see. ~ MM

Clare:  The head of the Sadrist bloc renews its adherence to a national majority government

2022-05-09 Baghdad

Today, Monday, the head of the Sadrist bloc, Hassan Al-Adhari, reiterated adherence to the government of the national majority .

Al-Adari said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "After we proved to everyone that we are not clinging to power and we have given the independents a golden opportunity to form the government and prime minister, the response came from some of them with rejection, but we are proceeding with reform," noting that "our political struggle is a struggle for Reform is not for the sake of sharing the spoils of power."

He added, "One of the most important signs of reform is our never-ending demand to form a national majority government away from power-sharing and consensus that harmed the country and people." LINK

MilitiaMan:  There we have it they are not backing down or deviating from the consensus that harms the citizens. This may support the idea that Maliki has a problem. We shall see just how big it is, in short order. ~ MM
