"this whole issue needs a set of determinants that ministries other than electricity are looking for."

He explained that "the Al-Shihabi area in Wasit Governorate is the only one that can be qualified to proceed towards the installation of wind farms or stations," noting that

"there are a number of measures that are taken with the concerned authorities, in addition to the need for government decisions to proceed with these stations."

He continued, "The actual need for gas ranges from 50-55 million cubic meters, and we had an agreement with the Iranian side based on the payment of dues and debts owed by Iraq since 2020, in addition to the dues payable from the year 2020 that the Iranian side stipulated in order to continue paying gas.".

He pointed out that "the current government and ministry paid these dues based on internal borrowing from the Trade Bank of Iraq and a government decision," noting that

"the ministry is coordinating with the Iranian side and has contacts to increase gas releases for the benefit of the stations."

He noted that "there are stations whose work requires fuel, and new generating stations to which gas is not supplied sufficiently, and they will be operated upon the arrival of sufficient quantities of gas to give additional impetus to the national system through additional capacities, which leads to an increase in operating hours."
