Former Minister: Iraq Can Reach 33,000 Megawatts

Energy  Economy News - Baghdad: The former Electricity Minister, Karim Waheed, said that the production of electricity could reach within a year to 33,000 MW instead of 19,000 MW now after carrying out a series of maintenance for the stations.

He added that the power stations need regular maintenance, but the problem is that the government has not yet allocated enough funds for maintenance, as months ago the Ministry of Electricity requested $ 200 million to maintain one of the power stations, and so far the amount has not been allocated.

Waheed called not to conclude new contracts to build stations, but to be concerned with providing fuel to electrical stations and their maintenance.  Number of views 18 Date added 25/07/2020  LINK
