Iraq Is The Richest Country, Fact Or Fiction?!

Iraq Is The Richest Country, Fact Or Fiction?!

From a young age, they teach us that Iraq is one of the richest countries, and this information is shared by many Iraqis with pride, which indicates that Iraq is at least third in the field of oil reserves, as it occupies advanced positions in terms of gas and sulfur reserves and others, and according to the indicators and advantages that Iraq enjoys, it is already qualified to be at the forefront of rich countries, but this did not happen in the past from over the years,

At the present time, poverty affects a third of the population, and there are many manifestations, infrastructure, services and luxury that prove that Iraq is not one of the richest countries, even if it has the ingredients to achieve what the population desires.

In it is more the events that occurred in the country were not aimed at development and human care.

Most of them are destruction and conflicts, and all of them seem far from benefiting from its resources.

For years, our economy has been rentier and depends on oil as a main source of income and domestic product.

According to a report entitled (The World's Richest and Poorest Countries 2022) published by the American magazine Global Finance and carried by our local agencies, including (Shafaq News) regarding the poorest and richest countries in the world for 2022, Iraq ranks 114th out of 192 countries included in the classification

We also rank tenth among the Arab countries, and the problem is not only in the sequence in which we fall globally and in the Arab world, but in the differences related to the Iraqi per capita share during this year of the gross domestic product, which amounts to 12,141 thousand dollars,

It is very far from the per capita share in the first sequence (Luxembourg).) which ranked first in the richest countries in the world with a share of 140,694 thousand dollars, so the difference between us and them is 128 thousand dollars per year, meaning that the Iraqi share is equivalent to 8.5% of the per capita share of the richest, and the difference is vast with the first Arab sequence,

Qatar ranked in the rank First (ranked fourth globally) with a share of 112.789 thousand dollars, i.e. a difference of 100 thousand dollars, that is, the proportion of the Iraqi individual is equivalent to 10.6% of the annual income of the citizen in Qatar, and the problem with the share of the Iraqi individual mentioned in the table indicates the unfair distribution of income.

If the per capita share is 12 thousand dollars annually, this means (Theoretically) his share is 18 million dinars annually, ie an average of 1.5 million dinars per person per month, which we do not find in the salaries of social protection, which includes more than two million families.

The family allowance (not the individual) does not exceed 150 dollars per month, and this figure is also It does not come close to the reality of pension salaries, as nearly two million retirees receive a salary of no more than 500 thousand dinars per month, and

It is far from the reality of the unemployed who have little income, who number more than 3 million unemployed. 6% of the annual income of the citizen in Qatar, and the problem with the Iraqi per capita share mentioned in the table indicates an unfair distribution of income per person per month, which we do not find in the salaries of social protection, which includes more than two million families.

It is true that we are not the poorest countries in the world because there are 78 countries in the world whose per capita share is less than that of the Iraqi,

but we are not one of the richest countries because there are 113 countries in which their per capita share is more than the Iraqi per capita share, and the reality in which we are in terms of GDP

It is thanks to the high selling prices of oil and the increase in the quantities of oil exports, as oil revenues constitute 85% of the total GDP,

meaning that Iraq’s sequence between rich and poor countries is liable to be lower than the current sequence if oil exports and prices were exposed to crises as happened after the spread of the Corona pandemic and we were forced through it Reducing the exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar, and

The unpleasant figures presented above are known to everyone because they are within the reach of the competent authorities and for any Iraqi, whether he is an ordinary citizen or an official, and

its data was supposed to be a motive for those concerned to raise the level of wealth in Iraq to rid the country of the problems it suffers from

And alleviating or addressing the suffering of increasing poverty Spread, our country is prepared in all respects to improve its domestic production by activating the business and economic sectors.

Selling more than 200 million dollars per day in the currency window of the Central Bank for the purposes of covering remittances and import financing means that the country is a promising market for the disposal of local products, as we import more than 90% of the needs

And our position in the 114th position has many facts, the most prominent of which is that we are not the richest country as it is rumored, and we are not even among the rich, which requires us to wake up from dreams and imagination to make our country in a better condition than this situation and at least in a way that suits our resources.    https://almaalomah.me/2022/08/04/612230/
