IQD CALLS Chat Friday Night 2-14-20

Chattels   Deputy for the State of Law coalition, Alia Nassif, confirmed that the government of Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi is outside the framework of quotas, noting that most of the political blocs did not participate in the new cabinet.

Nassif said in a press statement today, Friday, that "the Prime Minister-designate's refusal to the quota system and his failure to comply with the requirements of the blocs may lead to obstructing the wheel of his government."   http://www.alliraqnews.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=86767

chattels   The Iraqi parliament, under public pressure from months of widespread protests, has passed a new electoral law that still leaves protesters and parties representing Kurds and Sunni Arab areas far from satisfied. The law has yet to reach the president's desk to be ratified.

chattels   According to the Iraqi Constitution, parliament is obliged to send the approved law to the president for ratification, though it doesn't designate a specific time frame for doing so. After receiving the law, the president has 15 days to contest it and return it to parliament; otherwise, the law is considered ratified.

chattels   In reality, the disagreement among parties that has foiled the law's ratification so far will ultimately postpone early elections significantly, despite the inflamed public's demand that it be implemented without delay.

Wilder   Sam I Am @Dave Kuwait's central bank never changed the value of their currency.......Whether they changed the value of their dinar or not. I personally know of 7 firemen who who left the FFD because of the chance they took on Kuwaitis dinar. The rest of that crew including a number of HFD then invested in the Iraqi dinar. Those from the FFD incorporated and became builders.

sandyf   @Zig Sam I Am : Not much...did you read what Baxter brought in earlier regarding oil credits, etc??....

A clever piece of creative thinking that has been kicking around for years, but how would manipulation of the price of oil to the US constitute an overnight international revaluation of the IQD. The BS flies in from all directions.

Dave   Wilder Thought WW111 brought his personal experience with kuwaiti Dinar as well

Kaperoni   Sam still here?

Kaperoni   14 Feb 20, 04:42 PM Sam I Am As long as their policy is exchange rate stability that's what you're going to see. So in effect, you're betting that they will change that policy.

Kaperoni   To answer that question...the CBI will change that policy. That is only a directive from the IMF to meet compliance. Just like in 2013, when Shabibi was about to change policy, eventually with the current management it will change again

Wilder   Those guys from the FFD tried to get the Chief and captains to invest. Thats a sad feeling when look back and say to yourself. Could of should of.

Kaperoni   That is if Ali al-Alaq remains governor

Kaperoni   But there are other more important issues in Iraq right now other than monetary policy..they need to vote on Allawi's gov

Kaperoni   How can anyone compare Kuwaiti dinar to Iraqi dinar? The difference is like apples to oranges as far as amount of currency issued. Billions in Kuwait and Trillions in Iraq lol

Kaperoni   Nothing better than a good pizza on Valentine's Day! Enjoy ;pizza;

Wilder   Kaperoni you think we all should Sell sell sell?

Dave   Kaperoni Always thought that the IMF canned Kuwaiti Dinar after Saddam invaded......then reinstated it right after the war????

Dave   or did it float back up????

Zig   Wilder : and others...Read about member TWWlll experience with the Kuwaiti Dinar at https://www.iqdcalls.com/other.html Scroll down....

Wilder   NY Times article from 1991 reporting the revaluation of the Kuwaiti dinar

Jul 19, 2013  When Iraq invaded Kuwait in August of 1990, the value of the Kuwaiti dinar dropped to about 5 cents. In other words, it took 20 Kuwaiti dinars to buy one dollar.

In February of 1991 Iraq was expelled from Kuwait, and a month later, the banks revalued their currency to $3.47, the highest valued currency in the world. When this occurred, the New York Times reported the event on March 25, 1991.

It still has no water and little electricity or food, but Kuwait revived its banking system today, introducing a new currency.

Banks reopened for the first time since Iraqi occupation forces shut them down in December. Thousands of people lined up to exchange their old Kuwaiti dinars for crisp new ones and to withdraw a limited amount of money....

All other old dinars can be exchanged for new ones on a one-to-one rate until May 7, when the old dinars become invalid. The new official exchange rate is 3.47 American dollars for one new Kuwaiti dinar.

At the same time, the UN put Iraq under trade sanctions, crashing the value of the Iraqi dinar (IQD) from $3.22 to about 4000 to the dollar. Their currency could only be spent in Iraq itself, and people had to carry around wads of 25,000 dinar notes to buy groceries.

Then in 2003 coalition forces invaded Iraq and overthrew Saddam Hussein. By 2004 we gave them a new currency without Saddam's picture on it. The value soon doubled and went up to 2000 to the dollar. A few years ago the Central Bank of Iraq managed to stabilize the value at 1166 per dollar.

On June 27, 2013 the UN removed Iraq from Chapter VII sanctions, allowing Iraq to regain control of close to $80 Billion in frozen funds that had been sitting in western banks since 1990. This also allowed Iraq to be reinstated on the world's banking network, as soon as they are ready. https://www.gods-kingdom-ministries.net/daily-weblogs/2013/07-2013/ny-times-article-from-1991-reporting-the-re

Wilder   Zig Thanks Zig

Kaperoni   Wilder I have never told people to sell there dinar

Kaperoni   Here is a sentence from your article...

Kaperoni   I believe that is true, but it is vague in how it happened

Kaperoni   From what I remember, Shabibi went off the peg sometime from 2004-2005 timeframe and allowed the dinar to appreciate. which it did. Then once it got to about 1166 or so he went back on the peg this process took 6 months if I remember correctly

Kaperoni   This is a similar process that IMO will be used again once the market economy is going in Iraq and private investors come in to rebuild

Wilder   However. It does boggle my mind with how this will evolve with so much in circulation. So many different opinions on this. I'm taking my chances

Kaperoni   Wilder we all are. I just dont think it will happen overnight

Dave   No Float No Float No Float!

Kaperoni   If the CBI could in 2004 go from about 4000 to $1 to 1166 to $1 why cant they do that again to go from 1166 to near 1 to $1?

Kaperoni   Dave lol

Kaperoni   That is what currencies do..float

Wilder   Are there new notes printed yet. Regardless. With supposively the massive amount of dinar that was stolen and then with the problem of Iran having massive amounts they could possibly come out with all new notes to exchange to that would allow them to control the fraud. >>>just my little brain thinking.

Dave   Lds i hear are already.... loaded to go

Dave   think of the size of that ATM

Wilder   Imagine the line to exchange. Blood fest.

Dave   Wilder Old notes still work
