There are no more "free markets" anymore.

There hasn't been since Alan Greenspan invented and then implemented the first financial rigging computer programs in the early 1970s!

Jambie67 : Rumor from Americans in Iraq

In light of recent reports that the Iraqi people are dissatisfied with the recent PM pick, and they will "not go quietly into the night", a flip-side report is also being disseminated from actual boots-on-the-ground Americans in Iraq who are witnessing, first-hand, the people's responses:

Two military families here in the USA (who I know) have reported that their service member relatives who are still in Iraq right now are seeing a calmer front from the citizens with this newly announced PM. They reported that the people are hopeful that Allawi will do the right thing and are NOT wholly unhappy with him, as is being also reported. Many are encouraged by the sustained support Allawi has shown of the peoples' requested provisions for their government and futures, and he continues to publicly endorse their requests.

These conflicting reports concerning the tone of the citizens is nothing short of confusing, and likely, meant to be. I'm not certain who to believe, however, I've deduced the following: I know that many media outlets in Iraq are government-owned and some news coming out may be manipulated by design. I also tend to find the words of actual people THERE to hold more truth than articles or videos I might see. Therefore, I'm leaning towards finding the boots-on-the-ground reports more believable than any others. However, I know that these "spectators" are limited only to the region that they are in, and other areas may contain citizens who might be responding to the PM with different sentiments. In other words, these military people may only be seeing a snapshot (in their region) of the bigger picture. I just wanted to share the "Intel" I had from the families of a few of our troops still over there. That's all I have. We watch and wait to see what happens. Praying for good news soon.

Frank26  ...If we exchange at American banks do the dinars go to the United States Treasury? ...If you go to an American bank, yes.  Let's say you you live in North western United States and you go to Key Bank and you exchange your dinar.  Key Bank then gives you American currency electronic or physical then they take those dinars and they send those dinars to the US Treasury...  Let's say...you happen to go into a bank that represents the CBI here in America and you exchange them.  What is that bank gonna do?  That bank even though it follows American banking laws has the ability to send that currency back to the CBI...they get their spread (profit) another way...

Jeff  ...Iraq is looking really good.  Everything's moving in the right direction...nothing in Iraq is speeding this up.  Everything is moving at the same model speed it always has.  Iraq has had a set date since early last year in '19.  Nothing's going to speed this up or make it move faster.  The whole challenge with the prime minister was just a coincidence.  Over the weekend someone had jumped in and stated that once the PM comes in that will probably speed up the timing of rate change and wrap this thing up in 30 days after the PM...none of that is accurate...they've go a set calendar date.  It's most likely a fiscal year so that would put them right on par with Kuwait.

Don961:  Iraqi officials before the international courts ... The United Nations intervenes when countries are unable to solve their problems

2/1/2020 8:42:26 AM

Baghdad / Obelisk: Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi warns of a dangerous turning point in the developments of the crisis in Iraq, embodied in complaints against Iraqi officials before international courts, on charges relating to the killing of demonstrators.

Al-Tamimi told Al-Masala, Sunday, February 2, 2020 that dozens of complaints were submitted to the International Criminal Court against Iraqi officials who hold foreign nationalities, while it is expected to increase their numbers.

Last week, the United Nations Mission to Iraq, UNAMI, called for the transfer of those involved in the killing of demonstrators to international courts.

Al-Tamimi considered that this call represents a dangerous turning point in the course of the crisis, and Iraq’s international standing, especially related to human rights, and the possibility of sanctions.

He added: Although Iraq is not organized into the 1998 Rome Convention on the International Criminal Court, there are 25 complaints filed with this court on Iraqi officials with foreign nationalities.

Al-Tamimi revealed that the Security Council can refer this file to this court, in accordance with its wide powers in the United Nations Charter, as well as that these crimes do not fall under the statute of limitations according to Article 28 of the law of this court.

Al-Tamimi warns that the United Nations will intervene when the laws of countries are unable to solve their problems and get worse.

On Friday, October 25, 51 protesters were killed throughout the provinces that witnessed demonstrations, while one member of the security forces was killed.

The head of the Iraqi coalition, Iyad Allawi, had written in a tweet to him that the rulers and politicians of Iraq should be ashamed of the peaceful demonstrators demanding reform by asking for help from international and regional organizations to protect them, and they were being slaughtered by some security forces.    LINK
