Don961:   Hong Kong protesters ask America to "liberate" the city

- 9 Hours Have Passed

Demonstrators in Hong Kong gathered in front of the US consulate, raising the American flag and demanding Washington's help in supporting democracy, as they chanted the US national anthem.

The move comes a day after police foiled the protesters' plan to demonstrate at the airport and suspend its work.

Protesters are continuing their protests for the 14th consecutive week, despite the government's withdrawal of the extradition bill to China.

"Fight for freedom, support Hong Kong" and "Resist Beijing, free Hong Kong," the protesters chanted.

Other demands of the protesters include the release of detainees, an independent investigation into police practices against demonstrators, the cessation of the use of the word riot to describe the protests, and the resignation of Chief Executive Carrie Lam.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper urged China to show restraint in Hong Kong.

Esber made the appeal in Paris, as police blocked protesters from blocking access to the city's international airport and fired tear gas for the second night in a densely populated Mong Kok district.

Hong Kong returned to Chinese rule in 1997 under the "One Country, Two Systems" formula, which guarantees the city's inhabitants unrestricted freedoms on the Chinese mainland. Many residents in the region fear Beijing will curtail this autonomy.

China denies accusations of interference and says Hong Kong is an internal affair, condemning the protests and accusing the United States and Britain of fomenting unrest.

DJ:  DID YOU KNOW?

The hype and narrative seem to be at an all-time high with concerns related to the imminent revaluing of the global currencies and with it all the restructuring of global financial activities that will follow. This has been quite the journey trying to decipher truth from reality but as Emerson said “Life is a journey not a destination”.

Take this time to educate yourself and establish a mindset of learning. For what is about to come will require your thinking processes to be fully functional. New learning curves will be placed in front of you on multiple levels spanning multiple topics.

The process of learning is more important than the often intangible result or “end goal”. Talent and luck might happen to you by chance, but learning is a skill and practice that anyone can accomplish with diligence. And that requires putting in the work.

We’re always going to encounter a learning curve when we learn something new; it’s one of the requirements to actually learning! The frustrations and struggles that come with it are also a requirement. The learning curve doesn’t mean that you should quit, as long as you face the challenges and work through those frustrations, you will make progress.

But nothing will work unless you do. You’ve got to do the work if you want to see results. Sitting back in idle will have contrary results to your thinking process for what will be needed in the near future.

Some flexibility in learning is necessary, but keep your goals consistent. Don’t worry about doing things perfectly. If you do, you’ll never get things done. This is just a good reminder that the only way to never reach your goals is to never start.

We should all get used to the idea that what is about to happen is full of unknowns and as these unknowns surface we all must be prepared to adequately handle what presents itself. The brain is a muscle and like all muscles, it must be used to not atrophy (muscle loss). A good reminder to focus on active learning.

When I speak of learning, it is not only the tangibles like what type of accounts to set up, trust functions or project development but the intangibles such as benevolence and the characters of a being human like generosity, mercy and kindness. It is all about philosophical thinking and being kind.

Due to the never ending expectations of sudden wealth, our minds can become trapped in a realm of waiting, which in turn creates scenarios of desperation and survival. As a result, our natural tendency as human beings to be kind to others is over-shadowed by self-preservation.

As humans we often have an initial impulse to be generous, only to talk ourselves out of it. We do this whether that initial impulse is to give something away or whether it’s to contact a friend in need. Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.

What is innate in all of us, that is sequestered, must be brought forward and that will require a learning process to re-activate. We must develop the paths to follow now because once it is upon us, there will be no time. Once we become mindful of this tendency and, as soon as the thought to be generous arises, resolve to follow through with it.

This blessing about to be bestowed upon us has never been about money. It has never been the mission statement of our benefactors to strictly redistribute wealth. The wealth and comforts that come from this are merely a symptom of the end goal, which is to release the humanity in all of us.

You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late. If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The value of a person resides in what s/he gives and not in what he is capable of receiving. We must never forget that.

The truth is, we all face hardships of some kind, and you never know the struggles a person is going through. Behind every smile, there's a story of a personal struggle. To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. If a person can control his/her mind, s/he can find the way to enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come.

Together we can change the world, just one random act of kindness at a time.
