The Ministry of Finance stated today, Thursday, that "the new classification reflects the continued maintenance of the level of foreign currency reserves that exceeds the service of the external public debt and the fulfillment of other external financial obligations, as a result of the rise in crude oil prices and their recovery in the third and fourth quarters of this year."

The agency also confirmed, according to its report, the possibility of improving Iraq’s credit rating in the event of a high rate of economic growth in Iraq, diversification of the state’s oil and non-oil public financial revenues, an increase in the per capita income share of national income, and the continuation of measures to reform the financial and economic policy as mentioned in the economic reform paper ( White Paper), which will enhance the financial and economic policy of the Iraqi government.

Shafaq News / the Central Bank of Iraq announced on Thursday a decrease in the foreign currency exchange.

Shafaq News Agency correspondent said that the foreign currency auction of the Central Bank of Iraq recorded a 6.85% decrease to 204,218,319 dollars which the bank covered at an exchange rate of 1460 dinars per dollar.

He added that the sales operations were in the form of wire transfer and credits (171,818,319 dollars) and Cash (32,400,000 dollars).

In December 2020, Iraq’s central bank increased the sale price of U.S. dollars to banks and currency exchanges to 1,460 dinars, from 1,182 dinars, seeking to compensate for a decline in oil revenue due to low crude prices.

The central bank of Iraq said the key reason behind the dinar’s devaluation was to close the gap of widened 2021 budget inflation after a collapse in global oil prices, a major source of Iraq’s financial resources.

NORV  Dave No country can afford a significant RV to $1 with 80 trillion dinar in circulation. That is just to much money. The US is not even that high at $28 trillion.

NORV   And remember Iraq claims they are only worth 16 trillion including all oil and minerals in the ground.

NORV   Any money Iraq recovers more than likely will be spent on infrastructure such as housing, roads, water plants, etc.

UNEEK  These quotes are very thought provoking - I hand picked each one of them from a book of hundreds on riches and wealth - I hope you will take time to read them and allow their meaning to really soak in - The wisdom in these words may be priceless in the days to come

UNEEK   There is a burden of care in getting riches; fear in keeping them; temptation in using them; guilt is abusing them; sorrow in losing them; and a burden of account at last to be given concerning them. -- M Henry

The acquisition of wealth is a work of great labor; its possession a source of continual fear; it loss, of excessive grief. -- From the Latin

Agur said, "Give me neither poverty nor riches"; and this will ever be the prayer of the wise. Our incomes should be like our shoes: if too small, they will gall and pinch us, but if too large, they will cause us to stumble and to trip. But wealth, after all, is a relative thing, since he that has little, and wants less, is richer than he that has much, but wants more. True contentment depends not upon what we have; a tub was large enough for Diogenes, but a world was too little for Alexander. -- Colton

Our wealth is often a snare to ourselves, and always a temptation to others. -- Colton

Men pursue riches under the idea that their possession will set them at ease and above the world. But the law of association often makes those who begin by loving gold as a servant, finish by becoming its slaves; and independence without wealth is at least as common as wealth without independence. -- Colton

UNEEK   To have what we want is riches, but to be able to do without is power. -- G. Macdonald

There are two things needed in these days; first, for rich men to find out how poor men live; and second, for poor men to know how rich men work. -- E. Atkinson
