Tishwash:  U.S. DOLLAR SWALLOWS SIX MAJOR CURRENCIES IN THE WORLD

The U.S. dollar rose against six major currencies in the world on Thursday, following an upbeat assessment by the U.S. Federal Reserve of economic recovery as its strong tolerance for higher inflation led to the rise of U.S. Treasury bond yields.

At its monetary policy meeting, the Fed pledged to keep interest rates near zero until at least the end of 2023 when the labor market reaches the "maximum employment" and inflation is on track to "moderately exceed" a two percent target.

Against six major currencies, the dollar index rose 0.32% to 93.493 and the U.S. currency traded at 1.1763 for the euro, which briefly hit a one-month low.

The U.S. currency initially fell after the Fed's announcement and weaker-than-expected u.S. retail sales forecasts, but rebounded after Chairman Jerome Powell commented on the economic outlook.

Among Asian currencies, the Australian dollar rose briefly thanks to strong job data but gave up gains as the currency fell on the strong U.S. dollar, and in the most recent trading it fell 0.53% to $0.72665.

The yen traded at 105.08 against the U.S. currency, just below the two-and-a-half-month high of 104.81 overnight. The Chinese yuan stood at 6.775 to the dollar in foreign market transactions.

The pound was trading at 0.9098 pence per euro near a five-and-a-half-month low earlier this week.

The Bank of England is likely to signal its willingness to inject further stimulus into Britain's economically negatively affected by the Corona pandemic in its monetary policy decision due later today.

The New Zealand dollar was trading down 0.67% at $0.6690 after data showed New Zealand slipped towards the biggest economic downturn ever as the coronavirus outbreak crippled economic activity.

Tishwash:  Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq: Developing a deliberate banking plan to strengthen the national currency

Mubasher: The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Al-Kitab, met today, Thursday, with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Fayeq Zidan.

During the meeting, the governor of the Central Bank confirmed, according to a bank statement, that a thoughtful banking plan had been put in place; It would develop the work of the central bank, strengthen the national currency, and address negatives, in cooperation with the courts specialized in joint work with the central bank.

In turn, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council affirmed that the selection of independent personalities from among the employees of state institutions to run these institutions gives an indication of the government's seriousness in following the professional institutional approach in building the state.

Zidan added, in addition to stressing the importance of preserving the independence of the Central Bank in accordance with the constitution and the Iraqi Central Bank Law.

The Central Bank Governor stressed the need to adhere to banking laws, the anti-money laundering and terrorist financing law, and the instructions issued pursuant to them, to build a solid banking sector capable of facing financial and economic challenges and providing real opportunities for development   link

Tishwash:  Al-Halbousi in Kuwait to activate the outcomes of the donors ’conference and cooperation between the two countries

The Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousyum, arrived in Kuwait on Wednesday (16 September 2020).

The media office of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi said: The latter arrived in the State of Kuwait on an official visit, and was received by his Kuwaiti counterpart, Marzouq Al-Ghanim.

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, promised today, Wednesday, that the coming days will witness the unveiling of an initial report that includes billions of waste and major corruption files.

A statement from Al-Kaabi’s office, a copy of which was received by Al-Akhbariya, stated that the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament chaired a meeting of the Order (62) committee concerned with investigating and checking contracts for the Ministry of Electricity since 2003 until now, in the presence of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Services and Construction Committee, Dr. Walid Sahlani, Atwan Al-Atwani, member of the Parliamentary Economic Committee, Rafil Yassin Khudair, head of the Agency for Financial Supervision, and Karim Al-Ghazzi, Director General of the Investigation Department at the Integrity Commission.

He added, “The meeting reviewed the parliamentary-supervisory measures taken with regard to uncovering files of corruption and waste in public money related to contracts and stations of the Ministry of Electricity, in addition to a detailed graphical-numerical explanation of all the cases and files that were considered by the committee during the previous period.”

According to the statement, Al-Kaabi stressed that “the next few years will witness the disclosure of a preliminary report that includes billions in waste, violations and major corruption files in investment contracts, lagging, stalled and completed stations throughout Iraq’s governorates, some of which arrive before 2003,” noting that “the committee will convene next week.”

A new meeting to complete the roadmap that was drawn up for the committee’s work and prepare the initial report on violations and files documented by the heads and members of the parliamentary committees affiliated with the Order 62 Committee and the role of the field teams that moved from the first day of the formation of the committee to the Ministry of Electricity and its departments and stations, and the efforts of the Integrity Commission and the Board of Financial Supervision in that”.

Shafaq News / The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, discussed, on Wednesday, choosing a national holiday for the Republic of Iraq.

A statement issued by Al-Halbousi’s office, said that the latter had received the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, where they discussed the cultural situation in the country, and the ministry’s plans to upgrade archaeological, heritage and tourism sites.

 The statement added that the meeting also discussed, "supporting the intelligentsia and artists", expressing, "the Parliament's readiness to support the ministry by issuing the required laws".
