Clare:  Financial Adviser: Failure to pass the food law means austerity

Today, Sunday, Adviser to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, expected the passing of the emergency support bill for food security and development, while warning of a state of austerity in the event that the bill is not approved.

Saleh said in a statement to the official channel, that "the proposed law on emergency support for food security and development is very important in providing the ration card and enhancing strategic storage, as well as the need to provide allocations to pay farmers' dues, in addition to providing the cost of imported oil derivatives," expecting "the passage of the proposed law."

Saleh warned of "the state of austerity, financial distress and inflation, which is a dangerous phenomenon, in the event that the proposed law is not passed," noting that "this law proposal is a rescue spending package to reduce any potential risks."

Saleh added that "the prices of fuel, gas, sugar and grains have increased by 40% from last year," stressing the need to "

And regarding the white paper, Saleh said that "this paper is almost disabled in such a circumstance after the increase in financial support," explaining that "this paper is a long-term reform and can be modified because the Iraqi economy needs it."  LINK

Deep Woodz:  Member of Parliament Faisal Al-Issawi expected, on Monday, the passage of the Food Security Law, which he considered a “similar” to the budget law, in the next session of Parliament .

Al-Issawi said in an interview with "Shafaq News" and followed by "Al-Iqtisad News," that "the parliament session scheduled for next Wednesday may witness a vote on the emergency food security law, which is synonymous with the general budget law as it has the support of the majority of parliament members ."

He explained, "The law has been amended in accordance with the observations and proposals of members of the House of Representatives, especially those concerned or specialists in this aspect and in proportion to the stage the country is going through .

DeepWoodz:  Imo….Kadhimi has been silent but he usually is concerning parliament. The comments he  made were to convince them to move with haste because the needs of the citizens have not been met. 

I do agree there is a work around/smoke and mirrors in play. I suggest that the EFSLaw is the work around to the new exchange rate. 

We all know the new rate is in the budget according to what we have learned from Frank and Walkingstick. According to the articles above, the budget law and EFS law are synonymous. I believe this means the rate is in both. Whichever comes first should reveal it.

Tishwash:  Iraqi politicians file a lawsuit against the three presidencies and demand the dissolution of Parliament

On Sunday, a number of Iraqi politicians filed a lawsuit against the three presidencies (the republic, ministers and parliament), demanding the Federal Supreme Court, which is the highest judicial authority in the country, to dissolve the parliament.

"Today, a patriotic group filed a lawsuit against the three presidencies and the House of Representatives, as a result of the latter's violation of its constitutional obligations and the introduction of the country into a constitutional vacuum and waste of public money," said Salah Al-Arbawi, the head of the Awareness Gathering.

Al-Arbawi explained that "those who filed the lawsuit are Representative Hadi al-Salami, Sheikh Sattam Abu Risha, former Minister Bengin Rikani, Chancellor Farhad Alaeddin, Nadim al-Jabri, Jamal al-Asadi, Qassem al-Abadi, lawyer Ali Kamel Rasoul, Salah al-Arbawi and Ihsan al-Shamri."

In turn, Jamal al-Asadi said, "Today, we and a group of brothers filed a lawsuit before the Federal Court to demand the dissolution of the House of Representatives as a result of its breach of its constitutional obligations."

He explained that "one of the requests is to oblige the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to set a date for the House of Representatives elections for the fifth session and to issue a republican decree to that effect during 2022.  link
